CDEVs and INITs

DEVs and INITs refer to Control Panels and Extensions respectively. These are the files which reside in your (extremely surprisingly) Control Panels Folder and Extensions Folder, both of which should reside in your System Folder on the computer.

hen your computer first starts up, most of these files can be seen as little pictures which progress towards the right of your monitor. For users who own System 7.5 or a derivative of it will see a bar fill showing you the proportion of the files loaded as they load in. Each of these little programs adds some extra function to the System of the computer allowing you to do something new that you couldn't do before at the expense of a little memory.
